Howdy from Tulsa, Oklahoma!
I’ve been seeing and hearing good things about living in Tulsa, so it was on my list of places to stay. Housing seems reasonable. I fell in love with it, and it would probably be a first choice to live, but it defeats my purpose for moving east which is to be closer to family. In Tulsa, I’d be starting from scratch making friends, and still have to jump a plane to be near family.
I rented an AirBnB bungalow in the Brookside neighborhood for three nights, and we settled in very easily. In fact I was so comfortable there, I would’ve stayed another night, but it was already booked. It rained HARD on the second day.
We walked the neighborhood every day. Per usual, Gigi stopped to smell every blade of grass. Tulsa was hot in late May. We had to walk early in the mornings to beat the heat.
In all the craziness of selling and moving out of my house, I hadn’t had time to Cricut Kit Kat’s name stickers and apply them to the Meerkat. In Tulsa I had time to breathe, craft, and apply the stickers to each side, and remove the miscellaneous unwanted stickers from the back. In my opinion, less is more in this regard.
I’ve been a fan of Hanson since I became aware of the business side of music and the importance of a musician writing and owning their own work, which Hanson does. They were born and raised in Tulsa, and continue to live there as adults with their extensive families. I chose a restaurant for dinner one night, which I realized only after parking was next door to Hanson’s 3CG Records. There were fans gathered outside, and when I asked one why, she said they heard Isaac was inside with one of his kids. Now THAT is a fan (or stalker?). I got a few pics out front, then continued on to dinner next door. No star sightings.
From Tulsa, we headed north to Claremore where my second parents Ric and Diane Jones originated. On his death bed, Ric shared how he and Diane met in their late teens when their families lived around the corner from each other. I had the addresses from the family history research I’ve done on them, and he wasn’t kiddin’; they lived nearly in sight of each other’s houses. I snapped some pics of their houses today, and kept on movin’. I headed up to the cemetery where their families are buried, and snapped a few pics there too.
