Howdy pardner from Texas!

Continuing east from Albuquerque on Route 40, which often overlaps Route 66, I stopped at Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, TX. Last September, I car-camped at the Cracker Barrel in Amarillo, and only learned about Cadillac Ranch after I left. So I made a point of stopping to see it this time through. It’s a roadside attraction, and there were a lot of people there. I took pictures of some ladies standing nearby, and they took mine. Vivid colors, chaotic concept. Nice break from the drive.

I still had a couple hours road time in me, so I continued past Amarillo, and landed at Lake McClelland. $15 for the night with full hookup. Didn’t know it when I arrived, but the site I chose was at the trailhead for an ATV trail, and the group at the site next to me had a large fifth wheel and multiple ATVs, so there was definitely some noise before it got dark.

We’re no longer dealing with high elevations, and we’re in Texas, so the humidity and heat and bugs are becoming a thing. Getting further into the summer, and further east, all these things will get on my nerves. There’s no A/C in the trailer.
